Ratings agencies have raised the issue of the African National Congress’ 2017 leadership battle among political risks in South Africa‚ ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said on Tuesday.

Standard & Poor’s (S&P) is set to pronounce on its review of the country’s sovereign ratings on Friday.
Mantashe‚ speaking after a meeting of the ANC’s national executive committee‚ was emphatic when he said that government "was not doing things to please ratings agencies".
The party‚ he said‚ was rather working "for the good of the country".
