The City of Johannesburg municipality has convened the first inaugural council meeting: Will encumbent ANC mayor Parks Tau continue to run the country's economic hub or will the EFF throw its weight behind the DA's Herman Mashaba to hand him the mayoral chains?
The ANC lost its outright majority in Johannesburg, obtaining 121 seats in the 270-seat council. The DA's 104 seats and the EFF's 30 will be enough to end ANC rule - unless every other party votes with the ruling party.
The meeting is due to start at 10am.
